| So yesterday I locked my keys in my car, first time this year and I doubt the last.
Today I made a new friend. His name is John and he is 92 years old. He likes to make (rather incredible) bird houses, and he welds (amazing pieces of musicians, random people, animals, etc.) with old nuts, bolts and such. He has the sweetest comb-over I've ever seen in my life - because he has pretty much stark white hair, but the comb-over part is tinted green from whatever kind of gel he uses to keep his fine hair in place. I think he weighs about 90 lbs. Did I mention he still drives? He was showing me his flower garden, and decided to show off (I think) that he was still capable of doing anything - he lifted a huge flower pot that literally had to weigh over 25 lbs (which is quite heavy for a man of his age and stature (?)). He reminds me of the couple Dan and I saw running at Coolidge Park...
This old guy decked out in wind breaker pants, long sleeve shirt, one of those fishermen hats, huge sunglasses, running shoes with tall white socks, sun tan lotion on covering his nose, and elbow pads. He was hauling through the park with his old wife huffing right behind him. Sometimes I'm just way excited to get old and I hope I'm just as sweet and fun as the elders in my life. Go make a new elderly friend because they're amazing to listen to, talk to, laugh with, and love.
Spent the afternoon with Mar and Gram, whom I both love so very much. The most fun and lovin' ladies I've ever met. Very wonderful to spent time with both of them. And I'm way excited to be painting some furniture.
Later this evening I went and got a free frosty from Wendy's (the whole finger in the food deal) with Crystal and Ben, because well Essential Bean apparently closes at 6 on a Saturday. I'm not in TN anymore, welcome back to Caledonia where the only places to hang out after 6 are the Amoco on MainStreet and now, Wendy's.
Also, highly recommend spending some quality time at Barnes and Noble. I could spend hours there, and well, I did. Then I hit up Meijer, which is no Bi-Lo but it'll do.
well, I've shared enough about my life for ya'll. By the way...yes I'm back in good 'ol MI - here until July 2nd, then I'm off to Wilderness in CO for YL until August 17th...way excited! |
